We're back.

Better than ever.

And we're talking CrossFit now.

what is going on everybody welcome to

sunday sunday sunday night crossfit talk

we are back and better than ever and

already some really interesting comments

um i'm gonna start with the movement

doctor episode three thirteen fifty two

who are you joe rogan you know what's

crazy cj is i started this podcast in

two thousand nineteen

So it's been like we're in year seven

of this thing.

And we didn't count them all at the

beginning.

So that's not all of them.

Like when we did the semifinal interviews,

we didn't number those.

And we did over a hundred the first

year.

So we've been around a while and yeah,

I keep contemplating whether taking the

episode number off or not.

Cause it's,

it is kind of getting up there,

but it's kind of like a badge of

honor to leave it.

So, yeah.

So there's that one, uh, Kenneth,

the original and always Sunday night

CrossFit talk.

Craig says, hell yes, Scott's back.

I am,

and I'm so glad to be back.

It was a rough week.

And we'll get into that in a little

bit.

It's not lunchtime, Kenneth.

It's not.

And guess whose birthday it is today?

Vicky's.

Really?

Happy birthday.

Happy birthday, Vicky.

Trish, he is indeed.

Yes, happy Easter, everyone.

Yeah, happy Easter, everyone.

Do you guys do anything special for

Easter?

I know, Carolyn,

you're not in your normal hot spot.

I went home to go visit my family

left Thursday after school because we have

Friday and Monday off from work.

So been in Sarnia,

which is my hometown and visiting my whole

family.

So all my sisters were down.

So I got to see everyone,

all my nephews, nieces.

So good visit.

I'll leave tomorrow at some point to go

back to Toronto.

Jamie, do you know anything?

We went to brunch this morning.

Um, same place we went last year.

It's okay.

It's not the greatest brunch,

but nobody had to cook,

got to spend time with family.

It's nice.

We went to my nephew's.

My mom came in Wednesday and she's been

here all weekend taking care of me, which,

you know,

you don't realize how much moms are

comforting in your times of stress and

everything.

And it really felt good to have mom

here.

Yeah.

just to talk to,

just to kind of because Julie went back

to work Thursday.

And so I would have been here all

by myself and she was here kind of

taking care of me, which was nice.

And then we went to my nephew's this

morning for brunch.

It was essentially lunch by Costco.

Cause he has a newborn baby.

I had this procedure.

Um, and so we,

he got some quiches and we basically just

sat around and talked and had some quiche

and that was a Easter brunch for us.

I'm a huge deviled egg fan.

Like what's like my favorite thing.

You're speaking my language now.

Yeah.

The deviled eggs at brunch this morning

were, I don't even know.

I don't know if there was like jalapenos

chopped up in them or it was like

cayenne pepper on them or what.

I'm not a spicy fan at all.

And just don't mess with deviled eggs.

Like they're perfect.

I was like,

I ate one and I was like,

what is this?

Gross.

Gross.

Yeah, Julie makes the best deviled eggs.

And I know it sounds like such a

simple thing,

but when other people make them,

and I'm like,

they do not taste as good as hers.

Yeah.

And she made them this morning for this.

And it was, gosh.

The problem is, like,

I could literally eat a dozen.

so i really really i only had two

and how i even can constrained myself to

that i don't know but oh i just

love them so much um trish says jamie

you don't look like a spicy food person

there must have been something crazy hot

on there like mayonnaise

Well,

what's weird is I really don't like yellow

mustard, like at all.

But I like double eggs,

and I know that gets put in double

eggs.

So I like mayonnaise just fine.

Yeah.

I'll get to my health after the next

thing.

We also had the tournament this weekend.

The women's finished up,

and we actually have a champion in the

Clydesdale tournament.

media bracket challenge.

And I'm going to pull up that the

winner of the win yesterday or a couple

of days ago.

We were, yeah, we were tied for.

Yeah, I know.

I thought I was going to get it.

So I had a chance to win this

going into today's game.

Cause I was the only person to pick

South Carolina.

And that it was so close from top

to bottom that would have propelled me to

the lead.

But ends up that Blair Lettingham is our

champion of the women's division.

And I already have her trophy ordered and

the inscription written out and in the

cart.

I'm just waiting for the men's tournament

to finish because she's either going to

win that one too,

or we're going to have a tie for

the lead between her and Vickie.

wow is there a tiebreaker with like what

you predicted as the final score i think

there is i think the score is the

tiebreaker yeah yeah so there should be a

tiebreaker i don't think i don't uh

there's blair uh if only my quarter and

open final went this well but for the

same person to be leading both brackets

This late in the game, Blair,

you killed it.

Yes.

Killed it.

So she picked UCLA the winner.

She ended up with fourteen hundred and

seventy points,

a fifty point lead over David Erskine.

So that is the women's.

Carolyn took third bronze medal.

I tied her.

We get the same.

Yeah,

but apparently she won the tiebreaker.

She's on top of you.

She's a C and I'm a J.

That's the only reason.

Three and three.

No, I don't know.

I don't think so.

It's alphabetical.

All right.

And then on the men's side,

we'll show that.

What a disaster that thing was.

I think I should just retire from brackets

altogether.

Here's the men's.

In this one,

we have Blair again at the top,

and she has Michigan, who is still alive.

And nobody else has anybody alive.

So she is it.

Nobody picked UConn, so we are.

And then Vicky is tied for first currently

and just waiting on the tie break tomorrow

night.

And Eric Mackey is in third.

You have to go down a long time

before you get the three of us.

So that's where we stand on the bracket

challenges.

So I do have one in my cart

with Blair's name on it for the men's,

but I may have to change that,

take that out,

put another one in with Vicky's name on

it.

And so one of the two of them

will win the men's tournament tomorrow

night.

So that was fun.

It was fun checking the leaderboard every

day until all of my teams were eliminated

on the men's side.

Pretty soon.

I was able to just stop checking.

Um, oh, I was calling Blair.

She, uh, Blair is an,

is a fifty-year-old dude with a big old

beard.

I wondered when you said she,

I was like, oh,

you must know who this person is.

Cause I would have assumed it was a

male.

Same here.

Yeah, so there it is.

My bad.

Sorry, Blair.

You still get the trophy.

You got at least one coming.

You may have two.

Probably two.

Probably.

Well, if Michigan loses,

it comes down to the score.

Yeah.

Oh, okay.

So if Michigan wins, Blair wins outright.

If Michigan loses,

then they'll stay tied and it will come

down to who has the right score.

Blair, are you from Michigan?

So, okay.

I'm going to close those out.

So the next thing is my health.

It's all good.

Thank you, Blair.

The next thing is my health.

So Wednesday I had the procedure.

Thank you.

So many people reached out.

Love you all.

It meant the world to me.

I spent eleven hours in the hospital on

Wednesday.

The actual heart ablation procedure went

well.

They got what they think they needed to

get.

They tried to put my heart back into

rhythm,

which is what the ablation is to stop

it from going out of rhythm.

And they could not get it back in

after seven shocks.

And then when they moved me up to

recovery, at first I couldn't breathe.

I was kind of panicking.

And then my heart rate spiked to like

one thirty one forty resting.

And so they kept me in the hospital.

They switched some meds I was on and

the heart rate came down to like one

hundred, one ten.

And they let me go home with new

prescriptions.

Since Friday,

I've been in the normal range on my

heart rate resting in the seventy range.

So all of that is starting to work

better.

I had an EKG on Friday.

I get the results of that tomorrow to

find out if some of the medicine they

gave me helped it go back into rhythm

on its own or if they need to

do a second attempt at getting it back

into rhythm.

But I'm telling you, it knocked me out.

I think it's more the anesthesia than the

procedures.

And

It's getting worse and worse with every

procedure coming out of it.

And so I didn't feel even close to

normal until today.

um and but i'm here and i'm doing

well and i think tomorrow each day is

getting way way better and so i think

i'll be good tomorrow but they were saying

they could get me in by the end

of next this coming week to do it

a second time i don't i don't think

my i can i don't think i can

take that anesthetic because you have to

be put under to be shocked yeah i

think i need a couple weeks to just

recover a little bit before i go under

anesthetic again

And if I saw Shannon commented earlier,

she may know more than me.

I'm not a doctor.

I'm just trying to figure this shit out.

Yeah.

They don't want to like retry the same

thing.

They're going to.

So they're,

they tried to shock it back in.

The next attempt will be two

defibrillators hooked up at the same time,

hitting them both at the same time.

So double the current.

Okay.

You have had a lot of anesthesia this

year so far,

and it does take a long time to

recover with lots of anesthesia.

So at least that makes sense.

Yeah.

Because each procedure,

it is getting harder and harder to

recover.

Can you take the fancy Michael Jackson

drugs for people who react to anesthesia?

I don't know, man.

I don't know.

I'm at out-of-pocket maximum with all the

stuff I've had done this year.

So bring on all the stuff.

Give me the good stuff.

Because I don't have to pay for any

of it.

But that's where we're at.

This week, the schedule will be cool here.

I'm just going to do the show every...

The surgeon said,

let's open this effing heart.

I hope not.

I hope not.

Because they did,

they had to go up through the groin

to get into my heart.

And the incision at the groin,

it was not comfortable for the last couple

days.

Even though they say they're small,

they're still sore, and they still pull.

And yeah, the first day,

the going to the bathroom was just hard.

So

Uh, Larry says, I just,

I usually just propofol stun people for

cardio versions,

but never have I done seven on a

patient.

Yeah.

I think they try propofol too.

Wow.

Uh, shocking.

The body takes a lot out of your

body as well.

You had seven shocks,

like seven tasers on full blast.

Yeah, I was, I was sore.

So sore.

Yeah.

That makes sense.

So,

so thank you for all the thoughts and

prayers and all the people that reached

out.

I'm actually feeling really good today.

Like I'm actually hopeful that maybe the

EKG is saying that it may have slipped

into rhythm and we're good.

And you find that out tomorrow.

So I just feel a tiny bit weak

today.

But we'll find out more tomorrow.

Are you sleeping through the night?

Uh, no, no, no,

not even third Z has helped this thing.

Um, but it can help you.

It helped me like the week after.

Probably this week,

if you're taking it every night,

I think you might notice some.

Again,

I feel like you're further along on these

multiple anesthesias,

so you might need a little longer.

This is an extreme case that I don't

even think Thirdsy is equipped for.

But you can get it for fifteen percent

off with code Jazzy at checkout.

Thirdsy.com backslash Jazzy or Jazzy at

checkout.

Um, she says, geez,

the tech knows the minute the cage is

printed, what the rhythm is.

She's not allowed to tell me though.

And that is the rule.

It can't be told except for by the

doctor or the nurse practitioner under

this doctor.

And they were off for good Friday.

Yeah.

I hate that.

Do you get off tomorrow for work?

No, no, I'm back to work tomorrow.

Um, so yeah.

All right.

So let's get into the CrossFit stuff.

And that is, we, we just finished up.

Oh, I forgot to read.

There was,

I need to go back and grab that.

Uh, Daniel Arnson,

nineteen ninety four ninety nine.

Thank you so much.

That is great.

He is in Columbus.

I don't know why the pukey green faces.

What's wrong with Columbus?

Well, he did say go blue earlier, so,

oh, oh, and no,

I will not say that.

Look, I'm not, I'm not a Buckeye.

Yeah, you're not.

I agree.

And I can, I can tolerate it here.

Um, so the roads are bad.

I bet they're nowhere near as bad as

the roads of Michigan.

The roads are terrible here, but I'm,

but I've been to Michigan and they're,

they're gone.

Terrible.

Coming to your house.

Like I have to check every,

like all of my suspension and.

They are quite a bit worse than when

you were here.

It's bad.

Yes.

Cross fat.

Imagine having to tell all your fans how

to spell.

yeah yeah we don't have a p-e-n-s-t-a-t-e

it's it's just we are because we know

we are we don't spell it out um

all right quarterfinals you two finished

you both did i think exceeded expected

expectations

Well, Carolyn,

after winning the Open and Semis last year

in her age group and doing so well

in the Elite Division,

did you exceed your expectations?

Because you won again.

You won quarters.

Somewhat, I guess.

I was content with it.

Content, I'll say.

What's that?

You're on the first page in the world.

Yeah.

Yeah,

I wanted to redo the handstand push-up

one.

Like, definitely.

And there's a couple other ones that I

even wanted to redo for... Like,

I just felt like I finished them and

I didn't pace it well.

Like, a lot of... Like, number one,

even though I got, I think, like,

seventeenth or eighteenth on that one,

I felt like that should have been a

much better one for me.

Like, I was... Like,

I looked at a lot of the girls

that were...

ahead of me and they were like two

twenty five ish on the first part.

And I was like two forty five,

I think, on the first part.

So I paced it too much.

And then the second part was like

significantly faster.

So I would have liked to have just

pushed that one a little bit more from

the get go and just kind of go

all out and just see what happens,

because I thought that should have been a

better one for me.

I mean, it was still good.

And then the bar muscle up one I

wanted to

with like a more aggressive strategy

because I finished like with no issue

there.

And I felt like too good the whole

way.

But the one that really killed me was

the strict handstand pushup.

It's not like I'm not very good at

those.

So I want it to be a little

bit more.

If I were if I would have redone,

I would have wanted to have been more

aggressive on the row and singles on the

clean and jerk to begin with so that

I could just buy myself time at the

wall for the strict handstand pushups.

So since quarterfinals,

I've done strict handstand pushups every

training day.

I'm just going to accumulate a certain

amount of volume.

Every day.

Just go upside down.

Before we jump to Jamie, Shelly,

if you qualified for semis,

you deserve to go.

And it doesn't matter what you think your

fitness is.

The numbers tell you you can go.

I mean, Larry, she's got to do semis.

It's bound to be heavy at this point.

So it's right up her alley.

It's going to have everything she wants.

So just do it.

CrossFit says Carolyn's bride prioritizing

her Xenon chances.

What's Xenon chances?

What does that mean?

I think he's saying that you're going to

go to Xenon and win.

Oh, no, no, no chance.

But my hamstring does feel better after

last weekend.

So I'm happy that I'm able to do

things because the reason I didn't redo

any,

and normally I do like to redo and

do better, was because on the very,

very last workout, four reps to go,

I felt my hamstring kind of do a

little bit of a...

pop small pop um so i lifted for

the first time this weekend and was like

cautious but there's some movements that i

can still feel it but i'm happy that

i'm i'm good to go still because i

was very nervous last weekend that i did

something and i'm like oh no like it's

going to be recovery until the semifinals

but i'll be good i'll be good uh

cross that says it was just a joke

but i think we're having a little internet

lag too which may have contributed to

that um and how did i not expect

this answer from larry i'm never banking

on it being heavy it won't be heavy

enough it's not gonna be four four lifts

i tell you that much yeah i just

watched just go to powerlifting instagram

post this weekend and like a bad day

is when he's got four hundred on a

bench and whatever you know like come on

It definitely makes me think like,

what is semifinals going to look like?

I know because I,

it's going to be heavy, very skillful.

I think, um,

I just hope that they still have a

certain test that's not heavy and just

kind of engine,

kind of like an open slash quarterfinal of

these workouts,

just because the score starts back up at

zero.

So you don't want all the workouts then

in the semifinals to have bottlenecks of a

skill or just a strength,

because I think that the heavy breathing

is important as well.

CJ says he knows a guy that can

help with that hamstring.

hamstring or my handstand push-ups your

hamstring well both yeah yeah you can

probably help with both i know that's what

i said um and then crossfit says larry

just changed his avatar to a thirst trap

so jamie so jamie what how did you

feel quarters went for you

Because when we talked last fall,

you weren't going to compete at all this

year.

Well, I wasn't not going to compete.

I think it was always,

I'll do the open and see how my

hip is feeling and then see what the

workouts are for quarterfinals.

And if there's...

like basically just hope like I get better

as the season progresses and the tests

line up good enough for me to make

it through each stage.

Um, there was no expectations at all.

I wasn't certain I'd be ready to move

fast for the open.

Um,

I think, I mean,

I think they went fine.

I don't have the luxury of repeating like

other people.

And I get,

I get quite a few people that reach

out to me and ask scores and I'm

pretty open and I share and then other

people redo based off of my workouts.

And it's,

it's a little frustrating when like,

I don't get that.

That's what I got and that's where I'm

at.

I'm not going to go...

I know I could have done better at

some of those workouts,

but I don't have that luxury.

It is what it is.

When you say luxury, is it the time?

It's not my gym.

I can't just... Yeah.

You went to one that was closer, right?

This time around?

I did go to one that was closer,

but Monday you're back to classes.

Yeah.

I mean,

I'm not going to go ask and try

to shove two workouts in as a retest

on Monday.

I coach on Mondays like it's just

Yeah, I mean,

you also knew that you did enough.

That's how I felt.

I was like,

I want to redo really bad,

but I'm good.

These are fine.

You knew that you did enough.

Yeah,

I figured I would make top four hundred.

You know that you are fine.

Right.

It will really come down to semifinals

workouts, and it always does for me.

If there's one rep...

Yeah,

I don't think I can make it out

of semifinals.

Would you have enough?

Where did you finish?

Twentieth.

Eighteenth.

So you're going to have an invite to

an in-person event.

Now, knowing yourself,

you perform better in person.

Would you take a Legends or a Birmingham,

was it Magic City invite in person and

try to get a top three?

Is it top three at both of them?

I think so.

It is top three.

Would you take an in-person event?

Knowing that, like,

I find that you perform even better there.

Or would you wait for the online event?

And give yourself more time.

Well, Magic City is...

You can get invites to both.

Yeah, definitely.

I can't do that.

That's not feasible in my budget.

I don't know.

I am really struggling with that.

I would like to go somewhere.

I don't know that I want to go...

I declined my Legends invite recently.

early on because I was like, once again,

like I need to go through the season

and stages and like make sure I even

top twenty or whatever qualifies for the

in person and would get an invite if

I get an invite.

That's one thing.

But I'm not just taking it and taking

and if I get a qualification spot and

make it, that's one thing.

But I'm not taking an invite if I

don't feel like I'm ready.

So I declined that early on invitation.

And now it's like, I don't know.

I mean,

I really don't want to go to California.

If I go,

I just want to go the one time.

Huh?

So Magic City, maybe?

It's a week later.

Magic City is the week of semifinals.

Oh.

Is it the following weekend?

Right.

Like you finish on Sunday and you have

to start semifinals on Thursday.

That is probably not great for my body.

So...

they're apparently they're biking at magic

city and there's forty two people at magic

city like i feel like there's a lot

of did you hear that uh grubb did

a podcast with micah who's micah the guy

who runs magic city yeah they're biking

like outdoor bike apparently and swimming

which jamie kills

And swimming there?

No.

So he, so Grabe asked that.

Go in there.

Grabe asked that and he was like,

you know,

he said he reached out to legends and

they said no swimming.

Like CrossFit has said no, no,

no to open water swimming.

I don't think it would be fair for

certain semifinals to have swimming.

No offense.

Yeah.

If you're only going to have five events

and one of them is swimming,

like that's a huge advantage.

Magic City for fifty four and below.

But I think that's because one of them

is probably the biking.

When he asked about the swimming,

he said CrossFit has said no to open

water swimming.

Nobody's allowed to do it.

But he said he did bring up that

they have access to a pool and they

have done it.

They did it in twenty twenty five.

But it didn't I didn't get the impression

that we're swimming like.

I don't know,

I just feel like all the semifinals need

to swim or none of them.

That's how I feel about that.

Yeah, I don't think everyone has that.

uh jamie talks about a recovery like fee

i don't know i'm broken just kidding

crushing workouts because you only did

them all once you didn't announce that you

were out at this like you didn't do

a whole post about it and say that

no i mean everyone knew i had surgery

and it was us nine month to a

year recovery and i mean i fortunately i

I don't know.

I just like at six months,

I'm like decent.

I'm like,

I don't think I'm a hundred percent,

but it, it is what it is.

And that's, what's scary.

Like, I don't think I'm a hundred, like,

I know I'm not a hundred percent and

my shoulder is worse than ever.

So like, I'm actually like regressing.

Um,

my hip feels better and my shoulder feels

worse.

Uh,

so that's a little bit of a problem.

And it's like,

can I get top three if I'm not

a hundred percent?

don't know i mean i have i've been

arguably i've been eighty percent for the

last three years and i've managed to make

it to the games and be fourth or

fifth so i don't know uh thank you

larry for the two ninety nine super

sticker and uh that sticker is i i

don't know what it is it's a shirtless

man no that's the that's his like his

new

it's like a Holocaust patient.

He's like incredibly bony.

Mark Phillips says only five events.

I hate five events.

For the online semifinals or in person?

I don't know.

Well, I think Del Mar's only five events,

isn't it?

Is it?

I don't know.

That's a good question.

But Micah did say there's six events for

everyone under fifty-five.

That's Larry in high school in the

thirties.

So the weekend after Magic City is the

online.

It's literally four days later.

You have to start.

You finish on Sunday.

On Thursday,

you got to start in affiliate semis.

I don't know how I would travel.

I need to get my spot at Legends.

Did you hear somebody's hurt?

Someone is hurt.

I did not.

I have been on the couch for four

days, five days, CJ.

That's about all I've done.

Who's hurt, CJ?

Besides me.

Yeah.

Oh, he was talking about me.

That's what I figured.

Oh, okay.

All right.

So then we have the worldwide leaderboard.

And I was shocked.

I was shocked when I looked at the

top.

So I just want to get your reaction

since you,

we've not been on the air since these

went final.

And there we go.

So this is the men's side.

We have Jay Crouch, Austin Hatfield,

Jeff Adler, Saxon Pancheck,

Spencer Pancheck, Yonikoski,

Colton Mertens, Noah Olsen, Nate Ackerman,

Ricky Garrard.

Were you surprised at any of the top

ten?

I mean... Or lack thereof, who...

I mean, it's all names we know.

And, like, there's not a huge surprise.

Like, Ackerman,

I guess I wouldn't expect him in the

top ten.

I don't know enough about him,

but I know that he's up and coming.

Everyone else that's here...

Does great online and does really well on

those type of workouts.

None of these workouts were bad for Noah.

He's one of the best strict handstand

pushups, one of the best at the burpees,

one of the best squatters for overhead

squat.

What was challenging for Noah in any of

these workouts?

He's a great CrossFitter.

That's not surprising to see him this

high.

He's got wheelhouse workouts that no

matter what,

he's going to be excellent at.

I'm not that surprised with that

leaderboard.

So this is what I was surprised about.

After watching Tudor Magda do that double

under deadlift workout,

I didn't think it could be done faster.

For him to finish seventh,

it shows that when you have a time

set and you can watch someone go first,

anything is possible.

And...

I hope and pray that this doesn't mean

that people will stop broadcasting their

workouts during quarters because that made

the weekend so interesting.

I don't want that to cause the reaction

to then not post what you're doing.

He did have a trip up.

He could have saved probably three seconds

and he would have won.

Um,

I, I still, and,

and correct me if I'm wrong,

are any of those other six videos for

that workout viewable?

Uh, which event was that?

Three.

Because Tudor's reps were very clean,

and I have never seen someone jump faster

than him.

Tudor didn't even post his.

Yeah, but it was live.

You can't post them.

You won't see it there, Scott.

You physically cannot put in a video.

There will not be a video link on

anyone's score.

Okay.

Sorry.

But I could see Colton.

Colton redid that workout, right?

Because he had a slower time than that

at first, so he redid that.

But I can see Colton beating that score.

Like with a perfect execution,

a little bit smaller range of motion,

Colton's got a great deadlift cycling.

I don't know that Colton jumps as fast

as Tudor.

But just like the rep speed in general.

I mean... Austin,

I would like to see it.

Because I... I just...

So many people leave their shoulders out

front on the lift.

Tutor did not.

Correct.

That's my thing.

Tutor moved so well in that workout that

I feel like somebody beating him is

something somewhere.

Yes.

They are like,

When it comes down,

you have people like this too,

like Ty Grant says on Girls Unfiltered,

Ty Jenkins talked about pausing at the top

of the overhead squats to make sure his

reps were good.

That's a difference of like fifty spots.

And there are, like,

if you want your reps to make sure

they're good and there's no element of

judgment, then you have to do it, right?

Yeah.

Yeah, I mean,

I think that's part of this issue with

this,

and

I said this last week.

I don't think that the boys interrupted

the sport any favors.

I appreciate people going live,

but when people are going live and it

isn't great movement like Tudors was,

it's doing this sport a disservice because

everyone feels like they have to move that

way.

People that aren't elites see that that's

how people move.

They're like, that's all I have to do.

I can deadlift like this.

Perfect.

That's all I'm going to do.

It just sets a bad precedence.

Well,

let's move to the women's side because a

lot of this can cover both sides.

We have Kyra Milligan with the win,

Ariel Lowen in second,

Daniel Brandon third, Lucy Campbell,

Lucy McGonigal, Paige Rogers,

Miriam Von Rohr, Claudia Gluck,

Andrea Silberg,

and Elena Caratala in your top ten.

Ask the same question.

Any surprises of who's here and who's not?

I mean,

those are all names that like would be

up there in those workouts.

Like I was surprised Kyra was the overall

winner by that much.

But when you start looking at the

workouts, you're like, no,

Kyra is really good at all of these

things.

And like elite,

elite at a lot of these things.

So not like I'm not like I was

surprised, but not shocked.

I was shocked with Kyra.

And you're right.

When you take a step back and you

look at the workouts,

they did fit her very well.

And I like Kyra.

I've just never viewed her as the top

of the top.

But you don't have to win it.

She didn't win anything.

She's just the chief.

I can't see.

She won the quarters overall.

No, no, no, but I'm saying the workouts.

Like she's not like winning it.

She's just consistent at every one of them

and was like very, very good.

Yeah, I just,

every time I've talked to her,

either in an interview or in person,

like behind the scenes,

she always is so self-deprecating in her

humor.

And she always talks poorly about herself,

at least when I had spoken with her.

And to me,

that came across as a lack of confidence.

I think that that has started to shift

a little bit in the last year or

two.

Um,

I think she took offense to nobody picking

her at crash.

I think she look like Kyra does have

some home runs.

It clearly like, like squat,

squatting workout.

She's kind of like Anika to me.

Um, they're very, they are very similar.

They are very similar.

Squatting handstand pushups.

Like they're very similar.

Was Anika top ten?

She wasn't far behind, I don't think.

Eighteenth?

Yeah, she'd be up there.

She would have been someone that I thought

might have been closer up there.

I think Kyra knows she's got the home

runs,

and you have to capitalize on those when

they're there.

And she did.

Yeah.

This is probably going to help her

confidence a lot.

That's saying like in some,

some of the proven product podcasts that

like her goal is top ten at the

games this year.

Like, I don't like,

I don't know if she's there,

but I mean, she's vocalizing that.

And like,

I guess it depends what the workouts are

going to be.

Like she does have like wheelhouse stuff,

but she also has some holes and she's,

I know she's been trying,

I know she's been running a lot.

She's been posting a lot about running.

And that being her biggest hole.

So if she's closing the gap there and

can maintain her wheelhouse stuff that

she's always had, you know,

all of a sudden she's not getting crushed

on that one or two workout and she

can have a little bit more confidence.

Teresa says,

I think she's gotten better overall

because she's gotten better with

confidence.

Yes, I would agree with that.

I think in the last year-ish,

she's started to gain some confidence.

I don't know if it's her training

environment.

I mean,

I feel like when you work out with

the right group of people and you're –

if you can beat some people at workouts,

you start to – I mean,

it starts to bring your confidence up a

little bit.

Yeah.

I met her,

I met her when she was very young

and she had just got to underdogs and,

you know,

because of my friendship with Justin,

I got to know her very,

very early on.

And,

and so I'm really basing it all on

a lot of those conversations.

Um, and I'm glad she's changed.

I think that's awesome.

Yeah.

I thought maybe Haley Adams would do

better than she did.

I mean,

clearly there's like a hundred and

fiftieth or something, I think.

Was it the double under workout that

brought it back?

Yes.

That's one,

like that workout number three,

there was a lot of people that can

struggle elsewhere,

but like could really affect the

leaderboard there.

Like there was a lot of high level

athletes that got crushed by people kind

of middling them on that number three.

that's like the strength test but it's

like a lower skill strength test which a

lot of people can kind of excel at

mm-hmm yeah i'll be curious to see how

she does that um i've met her husband

i sure have um i actually knew keifer

before i knew kyra are they married i

don't think they're married i don't think

they're married either but who cares

They've been together a long time.

Yes.

And then Grace says the proven coaches all

talked about the changes in their

confidence this year in their quarterfinal

recap this past week.

Listen, everybody talks that though.

And until you see it and it,

and it plays out on a leaderboard like

this, then you're, you're like, okay,

now it means something.

Well,

that's why they talked about it in their

quarterfinals recap.

Cause it means something.

Right.

Is she doing mayhem?

No, I'm talking about Haley.

I'm curious to see how Haley does it.

Uh, Kyra might be him.

I think Kyra might be at mayhem.

Yeah.

I mean,

a lot of these semifinals coming up,

like it's going to be hard to qualify.

Like,

I feel like a lot of these girls

might struggle to punch their ticket there

and we'll get it online with the last

seven spots or be looking to get it

online is what I should say.

Um,

Um, I didn't,

I'm trying to pull up Mayhem.

Not as many people did the qualifiers for

like the Far East Throwdown or Cope de

Sur.

So like those, those regions,

if you followed the online qualifier,

like you have a great shot of qualifying

to the games because there's like one or

two people fighting versus a lot of the

other semifinals have like ten people

fighting for, you know, those spots.

Yeah.

Yeah, I'm, I'm not gonna lie,

I'm kicking myself for not accepting my

Latin America.

invite.

When's that one?

It's the last one.

It's like, it's like June, or whatever.

Well, it's the very, like,

I should have just paid for the reserve

the spot and,

and then that go with I'm just kicking

my second one in from the left on

the bottom row.

And Haley's going too, correct?

Yeah.

Second row, third one in.

Now Mano, Ankeny's,

Ariel Lohan have both withdrawn.

And then we have Maddie Faust and

Olivia...

I can't ever remember her last name.

She was at TFX last year.

Geist Heart.

Geist Heart.

There we go.

Thank you.

So they're replacing those two pretty

stacked field though, with Emma Lawson,

Lucy Campbell, Gabby McGawa,

Olivia Kerstetter,

just an page rot page powers, page Rogers,

um, Lucy McGonigal.

Those are all names we talked about in

the top ten of quarterfinals.

Yeah, this is a great field.

This is a great field.

I three spots out of the three spots.

This is insane.

This is, this is a battle.

It's gonna be exciting to watch.

Yeah.

And so, and then the men,

we have Adler, Roman, Jason, Austin,

Colton, Saxon, all top ten,

except for the bigger names.

Even Jack Rosen on the men's side.

Yeah, he's going team, which so is Sam.

So like,

Well,

what happens if he comes to Mayhem and

he finishes top three?

I don't think he'll take it.

I want to say he already said he's...

And same with Sam.

Unless Sam,

they have a backup for their fourth male.

I mean, that's just crazy.

Yeah.

Is this like the same thing as like

an athlete...

doing a semifinal that you know is not

going to take a spot.

I would have rather seen someone else.

No offense.

Do you know you're not taking it?

I don't know.

I agree.

Now the field is only eighteen people,

right?

I loved the prize purse for Mayhem this

year.

I don't know if you guys saw this.

Twelve K for first, eight K for second,

six K for third, two for fourth,

and one point five for fifth.

It's pretty good payout for semifinal.

Great payout, yeah.

And then we have a couple workout

announcements.

Is there a couple or just one?

Just one.

Still just the one workout,

that's all we know?

Yeah.

Dang, I was hoping we had more.

Well, we can do predictions, but dang,

with only knowing one workout,

it's going to be real tough to give

us predictions.

midline century intervals of three, three,

three, four, uh, twenty-five,

twenty calorie ski,

twenty-five GHD sit-ups, max toes to bar.

I've heard on other shows, um,

that the combination of toes to bar and

GHD is not done often in competition.

But like, Jimmy,

I know you love toes to bar.

I do.

Do you,

are you cool with it being connected to

a GHD?

Yeah.

I'm scared.

All three of them are the same hip

hindering closing movement.

All three.

Yeah.

I like this workout.

I prefer like a hip closing with a

hip opening,

like a deadlift with personally,

like when I had program,

like I like those combos better versus

this much interference.

Yeah.

But that's just a personal preference.

Or like an overhead stability.

It's very mayhem-esque.

It's very mayhem.

And it is similar to one that JR

had programmed too.

So you can see the minds melding here.

I like it.

Who, me?

Me?

You.

Oh, you're out.

Holy smokes, Scott.

We didn't even make it for not even

fifty minutes.

Goodness gracious.

Did you see Rich do it in the

Mayhem thing?

Yeah, with Darren.

I was cool to watch him do it

and then talk about it.

I love that he said HQ reached out

and was like, I don't know.

And he was like, nah.

We're doing it.

I think it's a little much.

No, we're good.

We know what we're doing.

um how many athletes do you think will

finish it in the third interval man i

i don't think do you think girls finish

more or guys guys you think more guys

will finish yeah okay okay interesting i

think that's interesting because of the

grip strength yeah

Because the cycle speed of the GHD,

I think, would be faster.

I think the problem is to be good

at the ski erg,

you got to be a little bit bigger

of a girl.

And that doesn't mean that many big girls,

right?

Yeah, there isn't a ton of big girls.

Jar Jar Loves CrossFit says,

tested this for funsies.

Hardest toes to bar of my life,

and I love them.

Uh, and Mark makes a great point.

There's ninety-five watch.

There's a hundred and three watching live

and we have fourteen likes.

Like and subscribe people.

Come on.

Um, I don't, yeah,

I'd like to test this one.

Just I, and I want to do some,

I have not done very many GHD at

all since surgery.

Like I had tried to do some GHD

back in.

don't remember tried to do like fifty

fairly early on december or january and it

hurt so bad i could barely do them

um but i i have done them a

few more times and they they've been

better but i i feel like this would

wreck me so and in case there's ghd

at in a semi-final which their own there

is very often i feel like i need

to start ramping up that volume so

Yeah, I don't know.

I might try a round of this and

just see what, like, falls to the wall.

Do you think that Rich or Mayhem will

put a white line on the GHD and

implement some sort of standard?

Or do you think it's going to be

a WFP and basically a frog GHD?

I think he's going to have a standard.

I think both JR and Rich don't appreciate

the frog GHD.

jr is helping with the programming jr put

the line on for syndicate so i'm assuming

i hope they do i hope they do

too yeah i it is it's such a

cleaner workout to watch ghds when the

line is there even with the line you

can go pretty high up on them yeah

like it's not but it's really bad for

a little bit further back but but who

going

I mean, James isn't going here.

Ariel's not going here.

Those are, like,

two that I've seen recently, like,

really kind of skirt that standard.

Emily does it pretty high up.

Okay.

What's funny is, though,

when you see the standard put out,

you see they don't do it.

They're all capable of doing it the other

way.

For sure.

CrossFit says James is king for it.

Oh, yeah.

James is.

Yes.

Have they announced how many events

they're having?

I don't think that's been announced

either.

Because last year they only did five,

right?

Yes.

I kind of thought it was the same.

They're going to go six.

If CrossFit is a little bit more behind

the workouts this year,

I feel like there has to be some

sort of standardization in the semifinals

where like you have to have six events.

Yeah.

Yeah.

So what two per day are they doing?

Are they back to three days or are

they just doing the two days?

I think just to see that they could

go one, three, two.

I think it's two days because one longer

one on the Friday moving day.

And then two,

I don't think they're doing three days of

competition.

So Vicki's going, um,

she says she thinks it's six in a

Friday event.

That isn't open to the public.

So you think Rich makes a mountain bike

or trail run?

Trail run.

Trail run for sure.

Okay, so that's good.

I like that.

That's going to be probably a long,

hard workout if they're just doing one

workout on Friday.

PC says, wishful thinking, Caroline,

you think HQ is going to try to

tell Rich what to do?

Spectators get two days.

Okay.

I love that.

Maybe it's the marathon run,

two-mile swim.

That would be terrible.

God, yeah.

All right.

So any predictions on who you have picked

to win on the men's and the women's

side of mayhem?

And how long do we have for this?

It's what?

April, April, April, April, April, April,

April, April, April, April, April, April,

April,

hopper the thing is do you think do

you think jeff's gonna win it i think

jeff's gonna win it you do yeah god

it's got to be like the perfect

programming no it's the exact opposite of

that because you think because it's

because they're okay that's fair

Because the range of movement,

people like Austin and Colton have their

workouts and Jason and Roman have the

machine workouts.

Just like they said on girls unfiltered,

Jeff can do all of that pretty well.

Yeah.

And I think he's going to Medeiros his

way through this thing.

None of his finishes are going to be

bad.

Yeah.

The woman's side is tougher to predict.

I know.

I think there's a lot more women that

are program dependent.

I know.

I wish we knew at least one more

workout.

Yeah.

I mean, if you assume that we're,

we're going to have that list of Lucy

in there.

Oh, I see.

I'm picking page Rogers.

I mean,

I think page is going to be tough.

Is Emma there?

Yep.

Hard to pick against Emma Lawson.

And Lucy Campbell.

Home court advantage,

I'm going with Paige Rogers.

I agree.

I think Paige is going to excel here.

Yeah,

I think that would be a good three.

Paige, Lucy, and Emma.

And in breaking news from water is wet,

sky is blue,

Kenneth DeLapp picks Colton Mertens.

Can't be anything sporty for Jeff.

All no repeatable things he's great at.

And I think the outdoor off-site event is

going to be a run.

Yeah.

He's going to smash.

Yep.

And then he gets inside and it's all

good.

John Young jumping in with picks.

Lucy Emma Page.

I transpose that.

Those are the three we just said?

Well,

John Young is picking them in that order,

Lucy, Emma, Paige.

Oh.

I'm saying Paige, Emma, Lucy.

Okay.

I'd say Lucy, Paige, Emma.

Lucy, Paige, Emma, just to be different.

Yep.

I think, I don't know, on the men's,

I mean,

I think it's going to be Jeff and

Jason,

but

The third is tough.

Austin's going to be better on the run

than Holden.

Yeah, I'm going probably Jeff, Jason.

Austin?

I'm going Jeff, Jason, Saxon.

I do like that pick too.

I don't mind that.

I think

I think he'll like that total bar workout.

Listen,

everybody goes with Jamie when we're

picking against each other.

Thanks, guys.

I'm also with Jamie.

Jamie more likely.

Blah, blah, blah.

Jamie, Jamie, Jamie.

And I only pick Saxon because John Young

is here.

Jeff, Roman, Jason.

Yeah, I mean,

I think Jason will beat Roman.

I don't think, but...

I can see those three.

I really need to see Roman perform well

live.

I just, I don't, I, I,

I know he's great at things,

but I think his time has come.

It's over and he's not well-rounded enough

as things are dropping off.

Right.

Yeah.

I don't,

he's not really in my top three.

I'm just torn on who my third is.

Cause I think it's going to be Jeff

and Jason.

I just, I don't know.

I mean, I'd like,

I would like Colton to beat Austin.

I just don't know if that's feasible with

a run in there.

I'll rock with Saxon,

but Saxon does mayhem programming too.

So it's a home court advantage for him

too.

So in the same regards,

I'm going with page.

I'm going with Saxon.

Um, uh, Jeff,

Jason rich surprise entry from Fergie.

All right.

So that's Mayhem.

We got two weeks to talk about it.

We'll refine our picks next weekend if we

have any changes or we see any withdrawals

or more events to make an educated pick.

So these are not official Clydesdale picks

yet.

We will have our picks next weekend

officially.

So the last thing I have for tonight,

there's a couple quick hitters.

One is, if you didn't see this,

A friend of the show has been Lana

Marcin.

She is the one who competed to get

the seventy plus Masters age group

included in the in to the games.

And she's a feisty woman.

She is so spirited and so great.

She posted this and I just had to

share it.

Lana got a shirt from her gym that

said our boss bitch.

And nothing could be more appropriate for

Lana than getting that shirt.

And I just wanted to share that because

she's a huge friend of the show.

She always listens and makes comments

after the fact.

But she's awesome.

And the other big quick hitter is

Jacqueline Dahlstrom has announced that

she is pregnant.

And by the looks of this picture,

it didn't happen yesterday.

Yeah, but still fairly early.

The picture of her husband or partner or

whatever is half-baked.

It's half-cooked.

So whether you take that literally to mean

that it's halfway through the process...

or not they are pregnant um and her

partner is john john singleton there we go

uh elite crossfit coach over in europe

congratulations to them uh jacqueline has

been on the show a couple times uh

when she was um more active she was

a great athlete fun to watch um

And so with that last question,

and then we're going to go for the

night, make cut a little bit short.

I was watching the Glinton things the

other night with Seth, Seth page.

And they were talking about how,

In CrossFit,

everybody wants to know everything they

can about athletes, personal life, drama,

all of that stuff.

And Seth made the comment that it's funny

because he's a big Celtics fan and he

doesn't care about Jason Tatum's personal

life.

He just cares about what they do on

the court.

And, you know,

if he sees something in passing,

surface level, it's fine.

He's a little bit interested,

but he doesn't ever dive into more than

that.

And my question to you is,

because CrossFit is so internet-based,

everything about CrossFit is on the

internet.

It's not on ABC.

It's not on TNT.

It's not on a streaming service.

You have to go to the internet to

see CrossFit and to learn about it.

And because of that, the mix of

professional life and personal life get

mixed together in social media.

And then now we're starved for more.

So pencil, pen, or Sharpie, is it,

is it that it's internet based that we

are more interested in the athletes,

personal lives, or is it just,

or is it something else?

So my way off base.

Sharpie.

I'll say pen.

I think that's just human nature.

Like, that's like, like,

we're all curious individuals.

Like,

I like to follow what I love that

Hiller follows Tyson around, like,

you know,

it just getting to see a glimpse of

anyone

anyone like anyone somewhat famous living

a little different but like do they do

some things the same way you do like

that's cool to see people like to see

that um especially when he does a crossfit

workout in our instance like yeah you know

i so probably tyson is the first i'm

the biggest chicago bears fan in the world

And Tyson is probably the one bear that

I know more about on a surface level.

And it's more because of my love for

CrossFit than what I've gotten from the

Chicago Bears.

I don't know what I'm sharp being,

but I'm agreeing that CrossFit is all

online and like their whole, like people,

the athletes in CrossFit like post a lot

on social media just in general for their

brand.

Um,

and less like the professional athletes

make so much money with their contracts

with their,

within their sport that they don't have to

be on social media selling their personal

brand.

Um,

Yeah, I guess that's my answer.

I don't really know what I'm sharpening or

pen.

So CrossFit,

I don't agree with your example here.

Aaron Rodgers may be on Pat McAfee every

week,

but I've never learned a thing about his

personal life.

I know his political views.

I know how he feels about certain things

in the world,

but the guy got married and has never

said who his wife is.

Like,

you don't learn anything more.

And so, um, but the,

the one good point he made is the

minute tiger woods gets arrested,

we're all diving in like everybody was

looking up.

police photos,

comparing it to the golf club to the

car night,

comparing it to all the other stuff that

I'll give you.

The minute Tiger Woods got arrested,

we were all invested.

Yeah.

So

So, yeah,

John Morant goes into strip clubs with

guns.

But I'm not diving in to know more

about John Morant.

That's just a headline on ESPN.

When we're talking CrossFit,

when we're diving into Danielle Brandon,

her home and her coach being outside in

a car and all this other stuff,

we're diving in way further than we did

on even Tiger Woods.

I mean, like I said,

people are just curious.

Like they want to know who she's dating.

I don't know if we're diving or dense

dives gets the diving in.

I'm just saying the media as a whole,

like dive into this more in our space

than they do in other sports.

And I, and I, I've seen,

they're more reachable as athletes than

athletes that have millions of followers.

Like it's just more easy to get some

information from the athletes.

in CrossFit.

The other point I think I wanted to

make on this is that if you remember

the NBA in the seventies, nobody watched,

and then they decided to market the

players.

And so the NBA started to focus on

magic and bird and Dr.

J and then Jordan comes along.

Then Allen Iverson, Shaq,

Anthony Hardaway,

and the NBA backed the limelight on their

own players.

CrossFit never did it.

It was all in the athlete's hands.

And only after the athlete had taken the

first six steps did CrossFit then step in

to use that to help move them forward.

That's my editorial comment.

They didn't jump in on Dallin, James,

Justin,

and Jason until they had already paved the

way.

But I was, I think that's,

you saw like prior in the years of

the CrossFit media,

we knew about them through the CrossFit

space because social media wasn't as big.

I think it was more so then,

but they never did anything about Rich

until Rich won.

And Rich was doing all these crazy things,

right?

What was that, Carolyn,

you cut out on me?

Because he's relevant and people want to

know how he's training to win.

Right,

but what the NBA did was they tried

to figure out who those players were going

to be and they started to market them.

They got ahead of all of that.

Hey,

know who these people are so that you

can,

so we can market you and it'll help

the league overall.

And then it got to a point where

people then love the game and they could

go to back to marketing the game as

opposed to individual players.

I mean,

it's a lot easier in those sports because

you have all of these development leagues,

you have college basketball or football,

you know,

and then you kind of see them progress.

For us, like, you have the Open,

which you don't really get to see them.

You can see them on a leaderboard,

but you don't have their videos.

Quarters, like,

you might see them here and there at

comps,

but you want to see some sort of

consistency.

So I think it's a little bit harder

to kind of make those all-in predictions.

We use the teenage CrossFit games maybe to

do some future –

predictions on some of the athletes that

could do well later on but other than

that i think it's a little bit harder

in our sport to make those predictions

before like looking at them being

consistent all of a sudden podium and then

you start following them

So I think it was one,

it was a lot easier.

The cart's already out or the horse

already out of the barn carts before the

horse, whatever.

You can't put the toothpaste back in the

tube, whatever cliche you want to use.

It's too late now when it was regionals

and it was a smaller sport.

I think you could have predicted who was

coming or you could have came close enough

for it was an interesting storyline at a

regional.

to get people to watch regionals and grow.

And when they were doing road to the

games and featuring these people,

that's when the height of the popularity

of the sport hit.

All those roads to the games from

thirteen, fourteen, fifteen, sixteen,

seventeen.

You knew so many people at regionals that

you didn't know in years past.

And when it was regionals,

it was easier to follow the progression of

an athlete.

These semifinals all over the place and

people going to multiple semifinals,

it's making it a full-time job to follow

who might be an athlete.

But...

They tried that in the regionals days and

the compelling episodes was the misses.

I agree when they had did the Brooke

and Josh bridges road to the games and

neither one qualified for the games.

That's one that top three most talked

about road to the games ever.

I just watched that the other,

the other day,

cause we talked about it and I was

like,

I should go back and look at this

cause I'm going to Delmar to compete.

I was like, go back and watch that.

I just, I hadn't watched that one before,

but yeah.

And they're very, very compelling.

So... Yeah.

Brent coming in one place out of the

games, what, three years in a row?

Made you root for him.

And when he got there,

you knew who he was already.

And so he made a huge splash when

he got there.

So...

I don't know.

It just, it was a great episode.

If you didn't see it, Clinton thing,

Seth page, the discussion was great.

It made me think about all these different

things, just watching it.

And I wanted to take a minute to

talk it out.

with you all.

I'm sure we'll talk about a little more

this week,

but I did want to cut it short

tonight because I do need to get to

bed.

I have to go back to work tomorrow

and I do need to get some rest.

Sleep has been negligible over the last

few days.

But thank you all again for reaching out,

checking on me.

I love you all.

You guys are the best.

And don't forget to like and subscribe to

the channel.

And with that, guys,

it is awesome to be back.

We'll be here tomorrow,

and we'll see you all next time on

Sunday, Sunday,

Sunday Night CrossFit Talk.

I know I'm out of practice.

Bye.
